Meet Michael Simms
For the past decade, Michael Simms has dedicated his entire career to mental health and addiction recovery, working across all levels of care to help clients find sustainable progress, healing, and recovery. Michael’s passion for his work overflows from his personal story of recovery from both addiction and trauma. In his own life, Michael received transformative support from an exceptional therapist and coach, inspiring him to dive into the field and provide great help to more people.
Background and Education
Michael earned his Master of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and holds multiple credentials, including Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Addictions Counselor, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Certified Internal Family Systems Therapist, and Acudetox Specialist.
Throughout his career, Michael has worked in diverse roles within behavioral health, beginning as an overnight technician and advancing through positions such as case manager, therapist, clinical director, executive director, and chief clinical officer roles. Most recently, Michael served as Director of Outpatient Services for the Meadows Behavioral Healthcare – Denver. In this role, he led daily operations and oversaw client care and experience. Even in leadership, Michael is passionate about individual therapy, working closely with clients to develop customized approaches to healing as he pulls from his robust toolkit of clinical modalities and techniques.
Michael is passionate about going above and beyond for clients – helping them address their core struggles, build healthier coping mechanisms, practice acceptance and understanding, and experience genuine life changes.
Outside work, Michael enjoys exploring the beautiful Colorado landscape, climbing fourteeners, hiking, spending time with his three dogs, reading, and participating in game nights with friends.
