Mental Health and Addiction Treatment at All Points North Lodge

In 2020, 39 million Americans from all backgrounds battled with substance use disorder, and 52.9 million Americans reported struggling with mental illness. While co-occurring disorders can account for some overlap between the two statistics, one thing is clear: Americans need the support of mental health and addiction treatment.

Many people are waking up to a broader understanding that addiction and mental health issues require treatment and that asking for help is not a sign of personal weakness.

There is a path forward. At All Points North Lodge treatment center in Colorado, we use various evidence-based techniques to facilitate healing in mind, body, and soul. Below, we’ve listed a few of the ways that we can help you find your way forward.

Customized Treatment Plans at APN Lodge: A Closer Look

Addiction and mental health issues look different for everyone, and we respect each resident at APN Lodge as a unique individual. Your clinical team will work with you to listen to your story and develop a recovery treatment plan that addresses your personal needs and goals.

Evidence-Based Treatment

Our Colorado treatment center employs a trauma-informed care approach that considers your health barriers, home environment, lived experience, and family dynamic. Clients with family support have better treatment outcomes – that’s why we include a family therapy component in every treatment plan.

Drug and alcohol addiction affects mental and physical health, and mental and physical health issues can increase your risk of addiction. At APN, we approach behavioral health with a mind-body-soul perspective and incorporate individualized plans with specialized health-restoring therapies so that you can enjoy long-term recovery.

Dual-Diagnosis Approach

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, up to 60% of people struggling with addiction also have at least one co-occurring mental disorder. Many people struggling with unmanaged mental health issues turn to substances to relieve symptoms. Over time, they can build a tolerance and require higher amounts of addictive substances or harder substances to achieve the same escape.

We understand the importance of treating both addiction and mental health disorders simultaneously; we can’t expect individuals coping with mental health issues to succeed in their addiction recovery if a treatment plan ignores their contributing health problems.

Using a dual-diagnosis treatment approach, we help our clients find relief from symptoms while working on a long-term healing plan. Treating the root cause and the symptoms of unmanaged mental health issues concurrently helps ensure a higher likelihood of sustained recovery.

Mindfulness Training

APN Lodge strives to provide whole-person treatment programs to each client. Mindfulness-based interventions are an important part of overall wellness and essential to long-term recovery.

Cultivating mindful awareness helps us learn to respond more positively to thoughts and emotions. Yoga and meditation help balance and strengthen the nervous system and heal the damaging effects stemming from addiction, anxiety, depression, and chronic stress.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

For clients who need additional support beyond mindfulness training, CBT, DBT, and individual and group therapy, we offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Many trauma survivors develop a “block” after experiencing trauma. These blocks help us to feel protected from the pain related to a traumatic event. However, they also block us from fully processing and moving beyond the trauma.

EMDR helps the brain process trauma with clinician guidance. APN Lodge clients can safely remove the barriers to processing trauma, make more progress in therapy, and facilitate the path toward complete healing. EMDR is a non-invasive, “non-talk” therapy that can help people struggling with panic disorder, eating disorders, substance disorders, and PTSD.

We know that trauma, mental health issues, and addiction impact the body just as much as the brain. That’s why we’ve invested in alternative healing modalities to support the work our clients do in therapy sessions.

Innovative Healing Modalities

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation, and we can’t treat barriers to health as separate elements. At All Points North, we champion innovation because our clients deserve the best care.

When searching for “rehabilitation centers near me,” don’t overlook the value of including non-traditional healing methods in your treatment plan.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

We offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) as an ancillary treatment at the Lodge and other Plus by APN centers. HBOT can help alleviate symptoms of specific medical conditions and serve as a tool to help you achieve your health goals, including addiction recovery.

HBOT is an FDA-approved medical treatment that increases the available oxygen within the body. Increasing oxygen levels helps to form new blood vessels and reduce inflammation.

Your APN Lodge treatment plan may recommend hyperbaric oxygen therapy for the following conditions:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Drug rehabilitation
  • Memory loss
  • General wellness

Unwanted side effects are rare and mild with HBOT, and it is an entirely non-invasive procedure with no medications or surgical procedures required.

Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS)

Deep TMS is another ancillary treatment option for guests at our treatment center in Colorado and other Plus by APN locations because it can relieve the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and smoking addiction.

Individuals with substance and alcohol use disorders frequently struggle with depression and anxiety symptoms. Many people with addiction disorders began using substances to self-medicate their undiagnosed or untreated depression. If we focus on addressing the root causes of substance use, we can increase the likelihood of sustained recovery.

Deep TMS has been tested in over 60 clinical studies and is FDA-approved for treating smoking addiction, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and major depressive disorder.

Traditional therapy methods and innovative neurotechnology can work together to bolster client outcomes. We take these efforts a step further by incorporating real-world exposure and the grounding properties of the Colorado landscape.

Outdoor Experiential Therapy

Addiction and mental health issues can take a toll on your physical health. Your clinical team will address those specific needs in your treatment plan with an on-site nutritionist, nourishing healthy meals, decadent comfort foods, and plenty of opportunities for mindful movement on campus and out in the beautiful Colorado Rockies.

We believe nature is a powerful healer – and for a good reason. Studies have shown that being outside in a natural setting for as little as 20 minutes a day can help reduce stress, increase productivity, and improve physical and mental health. Ecotherapy and experiential therapy offerings inspire our clients to connect with the natural world and let their guard down.

At our treatment center in Colorado, we offer several seasonal activities that help our guests make progress in treatment and work toward their overall wellness goals, including:

  • Hiking
  • Snowshoeing
  • Skiing and snowboarding
  • Fly fishing
  • Horseback riding

Experiential therapy excursions can help clients face their fears, build confidence, and in some cases, reveal past wounds that still require healing. Clients can process feelings with the support and guidance of a licensed therapist.
