For 15 years, I’ve worked in residential treatment, trying to help people with substance use disorder and depression, and a lot of medications haven’t worked for them, oftentimes they make people worse. So, it’s been complicated to try and get people better. So, to be able to think outside the box and use this tool, this entire new world called neuromodulation, to help people’s brains function better, have an anti-inflammatory effect, change the way the brain is firing without using a medication that has a lot of untoward side effects is extremely exciting.
Deep TMS stands for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. And what it involves is a magnet being applied focally to the front part of your brain that stimulates a set of neurons that are important in treating depression and a variety of other disorders. At APN, we have all these layers, the neuromodulation layer, the environmental layer, the psychological layer, and the emotional layer, nutritional and otherwise. So, to have all of this in one treatment center is a really unique experience.
