Family Therapy to Support Your Clients The APN Family Collaborative

Healing happens with connection and community. Our family system is the foundation for attachment styles, communication, and boundaries. For many, the family system is also where they experienced a lot of pain and dysfunction. APN is able to offer a brief family framework model of therapy to support client gains in treatment and support continued success as they return home. Family Therapy by APN utilizes a virtual platform that allows the flexibility to support clients and family in different states during their time in your program and after.

Take your clients further with healing in the family system during their time with you.

Who We Serve

The Family Collaborative is available to select Residential, Partial Hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient programs and their clients. Our therapists work with couples, parents, adult children, family systems, and families of choice to create healthy boundaries rooted in love, trust, and respect.

In family therapy, families and clients explore a variety of topics and themes, including:

  • Communication Skills
  • Navigating Boundaries
  • Repairing Attachment
  • Empowering Self-Care and Relapse Prevention
  • Rebuilding Trust
  • Clinical Follow Through
  • Establishing Boundaries
  • Handling Today

What to Expect from Family Therapy

The goal of the Family Collaborative by APN is to elicit and analyze relational pattern functioning, assess for maladaptive functioning and behaviors, enhance the perception of accountability, create a therapeutic alliance, develop positive motivational context, and provide psychoeducation to decrease the blame and shame around mental health issues, substance use disorders, and trauma.

Brief intensive family therapy has three stages focused on various aspects to heal the family dynamic:

  • Stage 1
Join together, accommodate each other, challenge perceptions, create a relational focus, build a therapeutic alliance
  • Stage 2
Challenge homeostasis, model skills, shape competencies with insight, increase intensity, shift behavioral and cognitive patterns, realign relational patterns of functioning to healthier levels
  • Stage 3
Highlight healthier relational patterns, shape competencies with insight, explore strengths and plan for maintenance

Family therapy by APN is rooted in evidence-based practices. We’ll find the strategies that work best for the family and set clients up for success, even after sessions end.
