Am I Eligible for TriWest / VA Community Care Coverage?
Eligibility for VA Community Care through TriWest is determined by the VA, not All Points North. Generally, you may be eligible if:
- You are currently enrolled in VA health care.
- The VA does not offer the specific service you need.
- You have trouble accessing care because of distance, long wait times, or the service is not available at your VA facility.
- You need mental health or substance use treatment that your VA does not provide.
- You are an active duty service member, veteran, or a qualifying military family member who has TRICARE coverage.
Our admissions team is here to help. We can work directly with your VA coordinator to check your eligibility and start the community care referral process. Please reach out to us if you have questions or need support.

Our Treatment Programs Are Built With Veterans in Mind
At All Points North, we’re deeply committed to supporting Veterans and first responders with care that truly understands the realities of military and service life.
Our integrated Veterans & First Responders Track addresses the specific challenges many service members face, including trauma, reintegration, and the transition back into civilian life. This specialized approach ensures that your experience is seen, respected, and supported throughout your recovery journey.
Understanding TriWest and How It Supports Your Care
TriWest Healthcare Alliance partners with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to help coordinate your care through the VA Community Care Network.
TriWest is not an insurance company. Instead, it serves as an administrator, helping eligible Veterans connect with approved civilian providers when care is not available directly through the VA.
If you qualify for community care, this process may allow you to receive treatment at All Points North with support from your VA benefits.
| Program | Who It Serves | What It Covers | Description |

The APN Veterans and First Responders Track
Our Veterans and First Responders Track is built into our existing levels of care, with a focus on the unique experiences and needs of those who have served.
Treatment addresses combat trauma, moral injury, and military sexual trauma, using proven therapies to support recovery from PTSD and related challenges.
You will work with clinicians who understand military and first responder culture, and you will often be alongside peers who know what it means to serve. Here, you do not have to explain your background. You can focus on your recovery.
We also help with reintegration, relationships, and finding purpose beyond your service.
What to Expect Financially
If you are a Veteran using authorized community care, TriWest usually covers approved services.
Most of the time, your out-of-pocket costs are minimal or limited to the VA's cost-share.
We review your coverage in detail before treatment starts, so you know exactly what to expect.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I’m eligible for VA Community Care through TriWest?
Eligibility for VA Community Care is decided by the VA. If you’re enrolled in VA healthcare, our team will guide you through each step to check your eligibility and help you understand your options moving forward. We’re here to make the process clear and support you every step of the way.
Do I need a VA referral before starting treatment at APN?
Yes. You’ll need a Community Care referral and VA authorization before TriWest can cover your treatment. Our team will coordinate this process from start to finish, ensuring all approvals are in place so you can begin care without unnecessary delays.
Will I have to pay anything out of pocket with TriWest?
Typically, authorized care is covered with little to no out-of-pocket costs. Your share, if any, depends on your VA authorization. We'll review your coverage in detail and make sure you understand any costs before treatment begins.
What types of treatment does TriWest typically approve?
TriWest generally covers medically necessary detox, residential, and outpatient care. Approved services often include individual and group therapy, trauma-focused support, and treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions.
Can I choose All Points North for my recovery, or does the VA assign where I go?
The VA manages referrals, but you have a say in your treatment. You can request a specific provider, and if All Points North is the right fit, we’ll work with you and your VA coordinator to facilitate a referral.
How long does it take to get approved through TriWest?
Approval times vary based on your VA facility and your unique needs. Once a referral is submitted, the process often moves quickly. Our team will keep everything on track and help coordinate each step.
What if my referral is denied or delayed?
If your referral is delayed or denied, you still have options. Our team will clearly explain the reason, help you navigate next steps with the VA, and explore alternatives to ensure you receive the care you need.
