WHAT SERVICES CAN BE COVERED?

All Points North is a licensed medical facility that provides evidence-based psychiatric care. Certified with the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, our clinical programs meet the high standards required by major insurance companies.

However, insurance coverage is always dependent on proven medical necessity. Once this is established, insurance plans frequently cover:

  • Medical Detox & Withdrawal Management: Physiological stabilization and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for acute substance dependence.
  • Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP): Comprehensive clinical programming for substance use disorders, primary mental health conditions, and sequential dual diagnosis care.
  • Comprehensive Behavioral Assessments: Multidisciplinary diagnostic evaluations conducted by board-certified psychiatrists to determine your clinical acuity and treatment plan.
  • Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS): Frequently authorized for patients who meet the criteria for treatment-resistant depression, OCD, PTSD, or anxious depression.
  • Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT): When specific clinical criteria for treatment-resistant depression are met, insurance often covers the concurrent psychotherapy portions of this treatment. (Note: The direct medical administration of the ketamine itself may require an out-of-pocket fee.)
  • Therapy, Psychiatry, & Medication Management: Ongoing clinical oversight, prescription management, and dedicated individual or group behavioral therapy.

Before you begin treatment, our admissions team will review your situation, check what your insurance plan covers, and inform you about any costs.

INSURANCE VERIFICATION PROCESS

We have streamlined the intake process so you can focus entirely on your recovery. Our insurance verification is strictly confidential and carries zero obligation to admit.

Step 1: Submit your insurance details through our secure form, or call our admissions team to provide the information over the phone.

Step 2: Our team will contact your insurance company to determine what your policy covers, including your deductible, co-pays, and any out-of-network benefits.

Step 3: We will call you back and clearly explain your benefits. If there are any out-of-pocket costs for your treatment, you will know exactly what to expect before making any decisions.

UNDERSTANDING BASIC INSURANCE TERMINOLOGIES AT APN DENVER

MEANING OF ‘IN-NETWORK’ AND ‘OUT-OF-NETWORK’ PROVIDERS

In-network means that All Points North has a contract with your insurer, resulting in lower costs, including negotiated rates and no balance billing. Out-of-network, on the other hand, means we don't have a direct contract, but we can still bill your plan, and you may get partial reimbursement after paying upfront.

MEDICAL NECESSITY

Your insurance will only pay for services it considers medically necessary. This means your insurer will consider certain guidelines, such as the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) for detox and the American Psychological Association (APA) for mental health, to decide whether you really need the treatment.

DEDUCTIBLE

This is the amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance starts covering costs.

COPAY/COINSURANCE

This is the portion of each visit or session you are responsible for paying for.

OUT-OF-POCKET MAXIMUM

This is the most you have to pay in a year. After you reach this amount, your insurance covers the rest.

PRE-AUTHORIZATION

Sometimes your insurance needs to approve a service before you begin. We handle this step for you.

SUPERBILL

A superbill is a detailed receipt APN provides when we are out-of-network with your insurance provider. You can request reimbursement by submitting this superbill to your plan provider.

PRIVATE CASH-PAY OPTIONS FOR MAXIMUM DISCRETION

We recognize that privacy is a priority for some people, especially if you’d rather not use insurance through your employer.

For the highest level of confidentiality, APN Denver offers straightforward cash payment options. Our admissions team will provide clear pricing for detox, IOP, and advanced psychiatry services during your first call.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If All Points North is out-of-network for my specific BCBS or Cigna plan, does that mean my insurance won't cover the cost?

No. Many premium PPO plans from carriers like Aetna, BCBS, and Cigna include out-of-network benefits. This means they may still cover a large part of the treatment costs at facilities like All Points North. Our team will calculate exactly what percentage your provider will cover.

What happens if my insurance denies coverage after verification?

If your insurance denies coverage due to medical necessity or pre-authorization, our team can help you appeal by providing the right paperwork from your assessment or provider. Many denials are reversed when we submit more information. While you wait, we can discuss cash-pay options, payment plans, or other ways to make sure you still get the help you need.

How does pre-authorization work for services like detox or Deep TMS at APN Denver?

If you need pre-authorization for a service, our admissions and clinical teams will submit the request on your behalf and include all necessary medical details. We will monitor the status and keep you updated.

If approved, treatment can start right away. If not, we will look into appeals or self-pay options.

Will my insurance cover the full cost of treatment at APN Denver, or will I have out-of-pocket expenses?

It is rare for insurance to cover everything, but most plans will pay for a large part of your treatment after you meet your deductible. You will usually still have to pay copays, coinsurance, or any remaining deductible.

Can I use my spouse's or family's insurance plan for coverage at APN Denver?

Yes, as long as you are listed as a dependent or beneficiary on their insurance plan. We will check the coverage for you during your free consultation call. Rules regarding age or dependent status can vary, so please provide the policy details, and we will determine what is covered.

How is my privacy protected for insurance billing and treatment records at APN Denver?

We take your privacy seriously and follow all HIPAA and state laws. Insurance billing is conducted discreetly, with only the minimum required details. If you want even more privacy, paying cash means your treatment will not appear on insurance records at all.

Are there any limits on the number of sessions or days covered for IOP or assessments at APN Denver?

Most insurance plans limit the number of sessions you can have each year, such as 20 to 60 IOP sessions, or may require re-authorization after a certain point.

When we check your insurance coverage, we will let you know about any limits right away and help plan for extensions so you can complete your full course of care.
