MEET DR. MIHAELA BUCUR
Dr. Mihaela Bucur is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist specializing in General Adult Psychiatry. Her areas of interest include ADHD, OCD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, adjustment disorders, stress, and lifestyle psychiatry. Dr. Bucur has experience supporting patients in both inpatient and community settings.
Following a person-centered approach and using evidence-based treatments, Dr. Bucur cherishes the individuality of each patient, compassionately supporting them on their recovery journey. She is particularly interested in lifestyle psychiatry, an emerging area that aims to improve mental health outcomes and overall well-being by addressing lifestyle factors – such as diet, exercise, sleep, stress management, and social connections – contributing to mental health issues.
EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND
Dr. Bucur is a Fellow of the prestigious Royal College of Psychiatrists, where she held a senior role as the Associate Registrar for Wellbeing and Retention (2019-2022). In 2020, she became a Certified Physician in Lifestyle Medicine with the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine.
During her postgraduate training in psychiatry, Dr. Bucur completed a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychiatry and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. She has also published numerous scientific articles in reputable journals, and others have cited this work in the field.
As an Honorary Lecturer with Brighton and Sussex Medical School, Dr. Bucur has an avid interest in medical education, teaching, and research. Her main academic interests focus on prevention in psychiatry, well-being, lifestyle factors and mental health, and cultural psychiatry.
Dr. Bucur is a keen nature photographer; in 2021, the British Medical Journal published an interview with Dr. Bucur in which she discusses how photographing nature has transformed her life.
