Meet Amy Maxwell
Amy Maxwell enjoys providing warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate mental healthcare and substance use treatment. She brings a unique blend of therapeutic skills with training and experience in creative arts therapy, counseling, and EMDR.
Background and Education
Amy earned her Master of Professional Studies in Creative Arts Therapy in 2019 at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She has experience facilitating CBT, DBT, art therapy-based groups, psychodynamic therapy, and EMDR therapy. She has worked in a variety of settings, including community-based programs, hospitals, and private practice, and often incorporates principles of Internal Family Systems and attachment into her work.
Amy values the therapeutic relationship as a tool for healing. She prioritizes creating a safe space in the therapeutic relationship to explore vulnerable thoughts, feelings, and experiences while helping clients make changes to move toward future goals and dreams.
